Technology has its hands everywhere. Until Graham Bell invented the telephone, people couldn’t even imagine speaking with another person living afar. Another step towards better future happened with wireless communication and thus emerged the modern ‘Digital Era’. Digital Tech Giants like IBM, Apple, Google, and Microsoft opened up Windows to the emerging technologies making world a ‘Global Village’.

Social media is one of the modern means of communication that has gained popularity in recent times and has become an integral part of society today. The world of Social Media has moved past the initial site ‘Six Degrees’ made in 1997 by Andrew Weinreich. Definitely E-mail and Facebook had a major role to play in the emergence of Social Media being a household name followed up by WhatsApp and Twitter making these currently the maximum used Social Media tools. Thanks to Social media, people are now more informed about current topics and technology updates in this age of rapid technological advancements which are happening all over. It also plays a significant role in helping to grow businesses as many business organizations recognize the benefits of social media as a communication platform to communicate with their clients.

The digital revolution resulted in the availability of devices such as satellite communications, mobile phones etc. It is now possible to have interactions through messaging, teleconferencing, and videoconferencing with others living in geographically distant areas. When business world started outsourcing, digital interactions went up to another level as companies could expand their business outside their countries. Digital payments are the trend now with apps like Paypal, PayTm, GooglePay etc. The Government and Supreme Court of India are handling its work through video-conferencing in the current scenario of Lockdown, thanks to the digital interaction boom. Matrimonial websites, Instagram, dating apps like Tinder have significantly changed the life of current generation. Many now are taking the help of online videos for work outs and keeping fit. Institutions like CultFit and many personal trainers are giving online training to their clients who do not have the time or convenience to hit the gym.

Use of online gaming is a booming business with game developers producing new games with chat interface each day for gamers, making it as one of the highest income producers in Asia. There are challenges, for sure, but the trends are clear. Emergence of social media and digital interactions has made us more advanced and it has brought a revolutionary change in the field of communication.
