Inspiring story of Morgan freeman

Oscar winner Morgan freeman is one of the most respected Hollywood actors of all time and the man with possibly the most unforgettable voice. Most of us have no idea about the struggles he had been through before he became successful. His life story is an inspiration to all of us.

Born in 1937 in Memphis Tennessee, he and his family had to move to Chicago due to discrimination against the blacks back then. He was born into a poor family but was passionate about acting and he used to save money money to watch movies. Morgan’s life was even harder when his parents got separated.

When Freeman was in junior high school, he pulled a chair from underneath a girl he had a crush on. As punishment, he was ordered to take part in his school’s drama competition. That’s when people noticed his acting talent and he tried hard to pursue his acting career. But poverty made him join Air force in 1955. After four years he realized this is not his passion and left the Air Force and moved to Hollywood to pursue his dream of acting.

Morgan was already 45 years with no big success after starting his career at the age of 34. But he kept his passion alive and tried hard for success.  Morgan’s first real exposure to national audiences was his time as part of The Electric Company, a television show. but in 1976 this show was cancelled and 3 years later he got divorced.

As the 1980s rolled on, Freeman started getting recognized for roles in which he played mentors and people in positions of authority. His fortune began changing in 1987 when he was cast in the film street smart.

From then on every movie his acting was well appreciated and nominated every time for Oscar award. Freeman’s big break came when he won the Oscar in his performance in the film “Million dollar baby” at the age of 67.

For me one of his best notable movies of all time is The Shawshank Redemption, 1994. More to more Morgan freeman has been nominated and won more awards than the total number of movies in which he’s starred. As of 2018 his net worth is estimated to be more than $200 Million.

Best thing about Morgan freeman: Freeman is a beekeeper with more than two dozen hives. Concerned about the rising colony collapse disorder among honeybees, Morgan converted his 124-acre ranch in Mississippi into a beekeeping sanctuary.

Moral:

  • Morgan freeman turned all the obstacles into motivation in his acting, and he has won many awards to prove that if you are passionate about something its never too late. Remember he won his Oscar at 67.
  • Persistence is the key. Morgan failed so many times and hit his forties without making any big success but he was persistent enough and achieved his success at his 50’s.
  • Follow your dream, doesn’t matter what the struggle we are going through, doesn’t matter what the age is, we can still overcome it.

One of the things you can always depend on – this is one of the truths of the universe, and you heard it first from here – whatever we decide we want to do is what we do.  – Morgan Freeman

    1. I’ve seen the Nat Geo documentaries. They aren’t documenting on him, but rather he’s the host and narrator. He’s also the producer.
He does show up here and there, and at the end. They are really good! Great show! He explores different cities around the world and how they find the meaning of God, etc. Also, how the different cultures bury their dead.
      Phenomenal – must see! 😊🙏🏽

  1. Wow, I never knew Morgan Freeman took so long to hit his big break. I honestly just thought he was born experienced looking (would never say old- LOL). I think we all really love this message because, it doesn’t matter our age when we get started at something. We just need to believe that we can do it and put all we have into it. Great message. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Morgan Freeman – one of my favourite actors. And yes, that voice. I first noticed him in Robin Hood when he acted opposite Kevin Costner (another favourite of mine).

His portrayed Nelson Mandela to the tee – movie Invictus.

  3. Amazing! Persistence is key! 🙌🏽 Indeed. I didn’t know he started his acting career much ‘later’ in life than most other actors. Wow, he’s amazing. And the movie Shawshank Redemption is an awesome movie – so incredibly good!
